The discovery of a new tool

Hi everyone!

I tried something quite unusual today. I practiced singing and Kung Fu at the same time.
I've been training Kung Fu with a Chinese master for about a year now. It's not only a great way to balance the music, I've also realized it has a lot in common with singing. Both my Kung Fu trainer and singing coach always point out how I should relax my shoulders, use less muscle power, keep the chest out etc.

I usually focus mostly on the feeling in the song and sometimes, when I practice alone, I forget to pay attention to the position of my body. When it comes to Kung Fu it's the complete opposite.

The result really suprised me and it will deffinately not be the last time I sing in a Kung Fu pose, not on the stage though. My voice got really clear and much stronger and I reached tones I never reached before. I can't belive I didn't come up with the idea earlier.

Not a fan of dentists

Hi everyone!

I felt like a kid who just skipped class when I cancelled a dentist appointment for a singing session today. I'm not completely sure but I think it was a spontanious reaction from my subconscious, scary dentist or relaxing singing session? The truth is that I rather sleep in a spiders nest than going to a dentist. I gotta be a bit braver next time. It wouldn't be too nice being a toothless rock/pop artist. But at least I had a good singing session.
Now I'm going to continue the evening by getting ready for a gig at Tavastia. Manboy is releasing their new album. Hope to see you there!

Tounge massage

Hi everyone!

Tounge massage, that's right. It happens to be the best way to open up your voice before singing, at least for me. I was in Stockholm a couple of days ago and met my singing coach. I haven't had a proper tounge massage in a while and apparently I've forgotten how painful it is.
If you think about it, the tounge is one of the most powerful muscles in your body that you use all the time but it's also one of the few muscle you never stretch or massage. So yea, it hurts like hell but the result is worth it. It's a method I strongly recommend that you can even do yourself, but it's always better to start with an expert so you learn how to do it correctly.

Jessica Wolff

Ps. Jaw and thorat massage is also a great treatment for the voice.

Running around

Hi everyone!

Today has been a very hectic but productive day. Thank God for inventing coffee beans. After a meeting with my promoter and Kung Fu training I got home just in time to see my music video premiere on Voice. Even though it was a bit weird to see myself on Tv it also felt great since it was a goal I put up 6 years ago. After my half hour break I went to do a commercial job for a Kung Fu video game. It kind of worked like Wii but instead of the remote control thingies, there was a camera capturing my movements. It's the first time in my life I get paid to play Playstation! After an awesome game session I actually considered buying a Playstation myself, but quickly changed my mind when I realized it could be a threath to my music career.
Tomorrow I'm off to Sweden to meet my singing coach and consultant. I haven't been there in a long time so it's gonna be great!
Take care!

Oh, happy day!

Hi everyone!

My friend called me this morning and told me that my song had played on YleX yesterday. The day couldn't have started better. A few years ago I wrote a list of goals I would like to achieve. The only thing I still had undone was to get my song to the radio. Now I can finally throw away the list, or put it in a frame, and make a new one. I'm wearing a huge pepsodent smile which will probably stay attached to my face for quite a while.
I also went to Radio Vega for an interview today. I went really well without any babbling, swearing or toung twisting.

It's rolling!

Hi everyone!

I just came home from a good meeting with my promoter. The single is now on Itunes and my music video will be on Voice at the end of the week. It really feels great to see things happening after a lot of hard work.
Tomorrow I have an interview at Radio Vega so if you're sitting in your car, bored at work or just listening to the radio in general, you can alsways turn on Radio Vega at 13.00 ;)

Cheers,

I am Jessica Wolff

I'm Jessica, a singer from Helsinki, Finland. My choice of music is rock with a dash of catchy pop tunes. I'm about to release my debut single "You Should Get Over Me". It's a story we all know, the moment in a bad relationship when you're so fed up you don't care enough anymore to be angry. Check out the music video too. Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Jessica
