Back in the city

Hi everyone,

I came back to Helsinki yesterday after spending a week at my summer place. I wish I could have stayed longer but got too many things to do in Helsinki.I have a meeting tomorrow about my single release and I also have a Skype meeting with a producer from New York tomorrow. Wish me good luck!
I'm also gonna do my first stunt role next Sunday. We've been training for a short movie with the stunt group (HMCIndie) for a few weeks now. Usually I act and do the stunts myself, so it's gonna be interesting to see how it works.
Life is rolling!

Cheers,

Chilling with nature

Hi everyone,

The last two months have been absolutely amazing. They've been full of opportunities, gigs, new people, sining, interviews, music video filming etc. Even how much I've enjoyed it all, everything needs balance.
Therefore I decided to run away for a few days and do something completely different than music stuff.
Right now I'm at my summerplace which is based on an island about two hours away.
I've been here alone for two days now. Here I can sleep as long as I need and once I wake up I'm free from requirements, obligations or people around to have an impact on the day.
There's no Tv or Internet here (except for my IPhone) which is great.
Yesterday I randomly walked into the forest and fell asleep on a cliff. Today I've been jogging, planting flowers and reading.
With other words, the lifestyle here is simple and great!
People rush too much nowadays and stress about their future. But in the end it's the present moment that shapes both the future and the past, so better live it out!
I'm looking forward to the storm tomorrow.

Cheers,

Jessica

Sleep and show

Hi everyone,                               Me and the band (except for the keyboard player) before the gig

A text message woke me up at Friday night and couldn't fall asleep until 4 am. Three hours later I woke up to get ready for the gig in Tammisaari. My voice was pretty tired after a 5 day singing course and the lack of sleep didn't really help the situation.
We thought we had to be there 11 am which turned out to be a big misunderstanding. The soundcheck didn't start until 17:45. Except for the thought of sleeping it didn't really bother me. Tammisaari is a very beautiful town, especially in the summertime and we had plenty of time to walk around, have lunch etc.

The keyboard guy couldn't make it to the gig so one of my friends had to jump in. We didn't have time to rehears with him so his style kind of surprised me , but he did a great job.
The gig went well and the audience was really nice, even if my voice wasn't in the best shape.
After the gig I did a couple of interviews and just when I was about to drive home I changed my mind, jumped on a boat and went to my summerplace instead. I slept like a baby!

Cheers,

Jessica

Popkalaset

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow I'm performing at Popkalaset in Tammisaari. I haven't had a gig outside yet so it's going to be interesting to see how it effects the sound. We don't have our own mixer, so I'm crossing my fingers that we'll get a good one. Sometimes it happens that they don't put the volume of my voice loud enough.
My teacher at the Complete Vocal Technique course I've been at for four days now,  gave me a few hints of what I can do to make the sound louder without forcing it. This new technique is an absolutely great tool for polishing what I've achieved so far.

Jessica

Popkalaset

Hi everyone,

It's been a week full of events and my body is a bit tired. I've met a lot of new and inspiring people and many have offered me help in some way or another.
Tomorrow I'm going on a 5 day singing course in Complete Vocal Technique. I'm really looking forward to it. It's been alot of work and I haven't had as much time for singing as I would have wanted and now I get to sing many hours a day for a week!
On Saturday I have a gig at Popkalaset in Tammisaari. It's throgh a competition they organized at Radio X3M where they picked out 6 out of 30 bands. Would be great to see you in the audience!
I also want to thank everyone who's been voting for me in the Hitlantis competitions. I really appreciate it. The band who won the competition and gets to do a warm-up gig for Bon Jovi is Block Buster. They're really awesome, check them out!

Cheers,

Jessica

Three gigs and little sleep

Hi everyone,

The show on Friday was a bit delayed so I didn't start to sing until 2 am. I almost fell asleep on the couch in the backstage room but kept myself awake with some energy drinks.
The band "Block Buster" that played before me was absolutely great. The guys were all under 18, but boy did they know how to rock! I recommend to check out their music.
I was glad to see many people in the audience. The feeling was great and the show went well. At least until the guitar stopped working for a verse or two, but it wasn't a biggy.
I got to bend around 6 in the morning. When I woke up a few hours later I sounded like an old man who's been drinking too much Whiskey and smoking too many cigars. I figured that the only thing that would wake up my voice was some painful jogging in the park.
I didn't really drink anything the night before but it truly felt like a bad hangover.
After some stretching and voice massage I was ready to hit the road for the next gig in Karjaa.
The show went even better than the one before. The reason was probably that I was so tired I didn't feel nervous and it made it easy to relax and go with the flow. We played together with a band called Opaque Buff, a bunch of crazy rockers. It was very inspiring to see them perform and the singer was all over the place.

Cheers,
 Jessica

Gig in Bäkkäri tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

Had a gig in Tavastia yesterday. I was a bit worried about how my voice was going to behave after my thorat infection, but it went well. It wasn't many people in the audience, but than it didn't really matter. As long as there is one person in the audience it's enough, you can always learn something new.
Tomorrow I have a gig at Bäkkäri in Helsinki. We're playing quite late and there should be a lot of people. Feels great!

Cheers,

Jessica
