Gig tomorrow at 22:00 in Le Bonk

Hi everyone, I finally found some time to sit down and write a bit. I had couple of band rehearsals this week, some meetings for the up coming music video and couple of Kung Fu trainings . My legs remind me of jelly fish but other than that I'm good. Tomorrow I have a gig at Le Bonk and after that everything will circle around the music video that we will shoot in about a week. It's a lot going on right now and there's not much room for resting, but it's all good. After the music video filming I'm taking a couple of weeks off after three months of hard work. Every now and then I just have to pack my bags and disappear for a while, otherwise the little adventure child in me starts to make a hell of a noise. This time I'm off to the Dominican Republic for some kitesurfing action. Cheers, Jessica

On the road again

Hi everyone, The gig last Tuesday went really well. To perform on the stage is absolutely the best of all the music work I do. I'll put up some pictures soon. Right now I'm in a small cottage with my parents in the middle of Finland. I was planning to stay home during the weekend and rehears my songs. My plan was going perfectly well til my mom called me. Before I knew it I found myself on the airport on my way to Tahkovuori. It was a good choise, I didn't realize how much I've missed snowboarding. The good thing is that the walls here are thicker than in Helsinki so I can sing as much and as loud as I want with out feeling sorry for the neighbours. After a great snowboard session and a cup of hot chocolate I went to the best after ski party in the world together with my mom. It's the sort of place where the DJ commands people to finish their meals so others can dance on the tables. After singing, sauna and dinner I was more than ready to hit the bed. Cheers, Jessica

Great gig!

Hi everyone,

I've been singing the same songs over and over again for I don't how long. I've been recording my singing sessions and analyzing them in all kind of ways, trying to correct small details and trying to understand the key to make them the best they can be.
I had been up and running the whole week and planned to rehears the songs as much as I could. So it kind of felt like a big slap in the face when I got sick two days before the gig.
First I got really annoyed and started stressing about not getting enough time to rehears. But quite soon I realized stressing is not going to help me in any way. Maybe this was a way for my body to tell me it's time to relax now and let go of all the reaharsing and analyzing. The whole point of working hard is to be able to completely relax and enjoy. So I did.
A good bath, yoga and voice massage before the gig turned out to be a good plan. I was surprised that I felt so calm and kind of expected some sort of nervosity to hit me right before the performance, but it never did. The gig went really well and it was a great feeling to be up on that stage. Maybe it's not such a bad thing to get a fever every now and then.

Cheers,

Jessica

Ps. The next gig is at Semifinal in Helsinki 22.3, hope to see you there!

Shit happens and then you die

Hi there,

Sometimes the body works in mysterious, not let alone in ironic ways. For the past six months I've been healthier than ever, not even catching a single flu. But now, two days before my first gig in a long time, my body decides to invite a high fever and sore throat. What's up with that?
Anyway, I'm not letting a fever stand in my way. If I can sing in a fever than it should be a luxury to do it when I'm full of energy. With this thought I've been struggling to get well for two days now, and I'm doing pretty good. Well or not, I'm very excited about the gig tomorrow. I hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Jessica

Gigs and boas

Hi everyone,

I have a gig coming up on Saturday in Liberte in Helsinki. It would be great to have you in the audience! It's the first gig with this band. We have been working on some new songs I wrote a while ago and it's gonna be interesting to see how the audience responds to the songs.

Other than that I have a couple of more gigs coming up (you can read about them on the event list), and a photo shoot in a couple of weeks. I'm bringing Squischy (my snake) with me in case we could use him in a picture. I fed him yesterday so he should be happy and satisfied for about a month. He is very friendly so even if he would be hungry he wouldn't attack anyone unless they were carrying a rat or a rabbit.

Cheers,

Jessica

Wounds and laughter

Hi everyone,

Last week was a bit crazy. After working hard with the band for three days I went to Pietarsaari to act for a short movie. We had a lot of shots and very little time so we worked for about 12 hours a day. On Sunday we were in such a hurry that they drove me straight to the train from the film set.
First I didn't understand why most of the people on the train gave me such weird looks. I soon got the answer when a guy came up to me in the train restaurant and asked if he could by me a drink. With a worried look on his face he wondered if I was ok and if I had slipped. Then I understood what was going on. I had forgotten I still had the make up on. It wasn't just any make up. I had fake blood coming down my ears and a big bruise on my cheek. It looked like I had been wrestling in a mud pond or something. We had a good laugh after I explained what was going on.

Cheers,

Jessica
